THE PROCESS

Phase 1 – Orientation & Capacity Building

Objective: Establish the foundation for the Green School Programme.

Activities

  • Introduce the Green School Programme to school management, teachers, students, and parents.

  • Form the School Green Council comprising the Principal, teachers, student leaders, support staff, and parent representatives.

  • Conduct teacher orientation and capacity-building workshops.

  • Enroll student Green Ambassadors and Eco Clubs.

  • Develop an annual Green School calendar.

Outcome

  • Functional Green Council established.

  • Teachers and students trained.

  • School community committed to environmental action.

Phase 2 – Environmental Audit

Objective: Assess the school's current environmental performance.

Students conduct audits on:

  • Waste generation and segregation

  • Water consumption and conservation

  • Energy usage and efficiency

  • Plastic consumption

  • Green cover, biodiversity, and landscaping

Activities

  • Collect baseline data.

  • Prepare audit reports.

  • Identify strengths and areas for improvement.

Outcome

  • Comprehensive environmental baseline established.

  • Priority issues identified.

Phase 3 – Action Planning

Objective: Develop practical solutions based on audit findings.

Activities

  • Select the Top Two Priority Environmental Issues.

  • Set measurable and time-bound targets.

  • Prepare an implementation schedule.

  • Assign responsibilities to Green Council members.

  • Allocate resources and identify community partners.

Outcome

  • School Green Action Plan finalized.

  • Clear responsibilities and measurable goals established.

Phase 4 – Implementation & Monitoring

Duration: 6–8 Months

Activities

  • Execute the Green Action Plan.

  • Organize awareness campaigns and student-led activities.

  • Monitor progress through monthly observations.

  • Conduct quarterly reviews and submit progress reports.

  • Celebrate achievements and recognize outstanding contributions.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Reduction in waste generation

  • Reduction in water and electricity consumption

  • Decrease in single-use plastic usage

  • Increase in tree plantation and green cover

  • Improved environmental awareness among students

Outcome

  • Measurable environmental improvements.
